Dorsa Basij’s projects take shape through a sustained interaction with space. For her, space is dynamic—bearing traces of her presence while simultaneously impressing its own influence upon her. This exchange of affecting and being affected repeats itself many times, until the work gradually reaches its final form. At Schaumbad, she set out to begin a new, experimental process—one still in progress—which started by following signs, with water becoming a site for the meeting of memory and the body: a place where what she carries with her merges with what she has found here, giving rise to new meaning.
