GIF – Grazer Impro Fest – Montag 26.08.2024

Das Schaumbad – Freies Atelierhaus Graz öffnet erneut seine Tore für das Ungeplante: Das zweite Grazer Impro Fest erwartet euch. Sieben Tage lang wird Haus und Natur für Künstler:innen, Kollektive und Neugierige freigeräumt. Alle sind eingeladen, mitzuklingen, zuzuhören, vorbeizuschauen oder einfach dort zu sein. Es gibt keine Grenzen, höchstens Perforationen an den erlernten Schwellen zwischen Performance und Publikum.
Und damit die Grenzen auch wirklich fernbleiben, breitet sich das Vielfältige aus – nicht nur beim Origami. Skaten, Musizieren und KI passen genauso zusammen wie Utopie und Kochen. Denn die Magic entsteht sowieso im gemeinsamen Tun und Nichtstun. Es ist genug Platz für laute wie auch stille Teilhabe. Apropos: Nichts geht über Partyzipation. Auch gefeiert wird gemeinsam, und zwar richtig schön improvisiert.

17:00 EXHIBITION: Oberdeck #16 – Christof Neugebauer – „Maskarons“ oder „Das apotropäische Spiegelbild“
Ein Maskaron (franz. Fratzenkopf) ist ein halbplastischer Schmuck an Baufassaden und in Innenräumen. Dieses grotesk gestaltete Antlitz eines Fabelwesens oder einer Gottheit hat eine ornamentale, aber auch Unheil abwehrende (apotropäische) Funktion. Einen Schlusssteinmaskaron findet man in Graz in der Sackstraße Nr. 13 (um 1629). Die Assoziation mit Brülllauten inspirierte zu dieser Selbstporträt-Klangfotoserie. Christof Neugebauer, geboren in Graz, befasst sich mit der Wechselwirkung zwischen visueller, taktiler und auditiver Wahrnehmung.

19:00 PERFORMANCE: „ORIGAMI“ – visuell/performative Improvisationsstudie
»Origami« ist eine Performance, in der sechs Improvisator*innen eine vorgegebene Konstellation durch das Nebeneinander von Körperbewegungen, Materialien, Licht und Klang modulieren; sie spreizen, biegen, drehen, falten, klemmen und entfalten sie.Andreja Rauch Podrzavnik ist Choreografin, Improvisatorin und Pädagogin, Autorin und Koordinatorin von performativen, Forschungs- und Bildungsprojekten.

Jaka Šimenc ist ein Lichtdesigner, der seit mehr als 25 Jahren im Bereich des zeitgenössischen Tanzes, des Balletts und des Theaters tätig ist.
Peter Rauch ist Fotograf, Architekt und Dozent an der Akademie für Bildende Künste und Design, wo er auch die Abteilung für Fotografie leitet.
Katja Legin ist als Performerin, Choreografin und Dramaturgin im Bereich der darstellenden Kunst tätig.
Bojana Robinson ist Tänzerin und Choreografin.
Josip Maršić ist Komponist, Instrumentalist und Autor zahlreicher Audioinstallationen.

Der GIK – Grazer Impro Klub begreift sich als Plattform zur Erhaltung, Konsolidierung und Pflege der musikalischen Praxis der Improvisation und des genrebefreiten musikalischen Experiments. Spontan kuratiert und moderiert von Patrick Wurzwallner und bestückt mit hochkarätigen Gästen manifestiert der GIK einen wohlwollenden und möglichst inklusiven Raum zur Ermöglichung einer kollektiven Risikopraxis.Immer am letzten Montag des Monats, diesmal im Schaumbad Graz.

ALL NIGHT LONG – PERFORMANCE Daniele Formica (St.A.i.R) – „Looking trough the skin of a Cherry“
Daniele Formica versammelt sich mit den Teilnehmenden um ein grünes Licht und führt eine Gruppenbetrachtung über die Kirsche durch. Während er unter seiner Decke spricht, ermutigt er die Gruppe, sich zu bewegen und durch ihre Kirsche zu schauen. Nach dem vorsichtigen Verzehr der Frucht endet die Betrachtung mit einer Rede über den Kern.
Daniele Formica ist ein italienischer bildender Künstler, der in Den Haag lebt. Derzeit St.A.i.R.-Stipendiat im Schaumbad.

Schaumbad – Freies Atelierhaus Graz is once again opening its doors to the unplanned: the second Graz Impro Fest awaits you. For seven days, the house and nature will be cleared for artists, collectives and the curious. Everyone is invited to join in, listen, drop by or simply be there. There are no boundaries, only perforations at the learned thresholds between performance and audience. And to ensure that the boundaries really do stay out of the way, diversity spreads – and not just in origami. Skating, making music and AI go together just as well as utopia and cooking. Because magic is created by doing and doing nothing together anyway. There is enough space for both loud and quiet participation. Speaking of which: nothing beats party participation. We also celebrate together, and in a really improvised way.

A mascaron (French for grimacing head) is a semi-sculptural decoration on building facades and in interiors. This grotesquely designed face of a mythical creature or a deity has an ornamental, but also an apotropaic function. A keystone mascaron can be found in Graz at Sackstraße no. 13 (around 1629). The association with roaring sounds inspired this self-portrait sound photo series. Christof Neugebauer, born in Graz, deals with the interaction between visual, tactile and auditory perception.

“Origami” is a performance in which six improvisers modulate a given constellation through the juxtaposition of body movements, materials, light and sound; they spread, bend, twist, fold, clamp and unfold it.Andreja Rauch Podrzavnik is a choreographer, improviser and educator, author and coordinator of performative, research and educational projects.

Jaka Šimenc is a lighting designer who has been working in the field of contemporary dance, ballet and theater for more than 25 years.
Peter Rauch is a photographer, architect and lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, where he also heads the photography department.
Katja Legin works as a performer, choreographer and dramaturge in the field of performing arts.
Bojana Robinson is a dancer and choreographer.
Josip Maršić is a composer, instrumentalist and author of numerous audio installations.

The GIK – Grazer Impro Klub sees itself as a platform for the preservation, consolidation and cultivation of the musical practice of improvisation and genre-free musical experimentation. Spontaneously curated and moderated by Patrick Wurzwallner and featuring top-class guests, the GIK manifests a benevolent and inclusive space for the facilitation of a collective risk-taking practice, always on the last Monday of the month, this time at Schaumbad Graz.

ALL NIGHT LONG –  PERFORMANCE Daniele Formica (St.A.i.R) – „Looking trough the skin of a Cherry“
Daniele Formica gathers the participants around a green light and conducts a group reflection on the cherry. As he talks under his blanket, he encourages the group to move around and look through their cherry. After carefully eating the fruit, the contemplation ends with a speech about the pit.
Daniele Formica is an Italian visual artist living in The Hague. Currently a St.A.i.R. fellow at Schaumbad.
