GIF – Grazer Impro Fest – Mittwoch 28.08.2024

Das Schaumbad – Freies Atelierhaus Graz öffnet erneut seine Tore für das Ungeplante: Das zweite Grazer Impro Fest erwartet euch. Sieben Tage lang wird Haus und Natur für Künstler:innen, Kollektive und Neugierige freigeräumt. Alle sind eingeladen, mitzuklingen, zuzuhören, vorbeizuschauen oder einfach dort zu sein. Es gibt keine Grenzen, höchstens Perforationen an den erlernten Schwellen zwischen Performance und Publikum.
Und damit die Grenzen auch wirklich fernbleiben, breitet sich das Vielfältige aus – nicht nur beim Origami. Skaten, Musizieren und KI passen genauso zusammen wie Utopie und Kochen. Denn die Magic entsteht sowieso im gemeinsamen Tun und Nichtstun. Es ist genug Platz für laute wie auch stille Teilhabe. Apropos: Nichts geht über Partyzipation. Auch gefeiert wird gemeinsam, und zwar richtig schön improvisiert.

The Gathering ist ein Improvisationsspace für Musik, Tanz und alle weiteren künstlerischen Ausdrucksformen. Entstanden in London in den 1990er Jahren, gegründet u. a. von Maggie Nicols und dem London Improvisers Collec-tive, soll es Raum geben für spontane Improvisation. Ohne inhaltliche Vorgaben »versammeln« sich Improvisationsinteressierte um ihrer Kreativität in Kommunikation Ausdruck zu verleihen.
Annette Giesriegl, in Graz lebend, ist eine grenzüberschreitende Vokalistin. Ausgebildet in Jazzgesang stehen Improvisation sowie die Erweiterung des vokalen Klangrepertoires im Mittelpunkt ihrer Arbeit.

18:00 WORKSHOP: Martin Bous – „Resonance and Motion“
Der Workshop ist eine immersive Erfahrung, die Stimme und Körperbewegung integriert. Die Teilnehmenden erforschen und bewegen sich dynamisch und interagieren dabei mit den im Raum verteilten Mikrofonen. So entsteht eine sich ständig verändernde Klanglandschaft, die den freien Ausdruck ermutigt und alltägliche Hemmungen abbaut. Ziel ist die Vielseitigkeit der Stimme in Kombination mit Körperbewegungen zu erforschen und eine tiefere Verbindung zwischen beiden zu fördern.
Martin Peter Bous (*1995) ist ein in Wien lebender Vokalist und Songwriter.

20:00 GATHERING: Café Witch – „Body and Voice“
Eine partizipatorische Performance, bei der es darum geht, die eigene Stimme zu nutzen, um anderen zuzuhören, sie zu verarbeiten und mit ihnen zu spielen. In dieser Sitzung zeigen Vida und Hanna zunächst eine kurze chorische und gesprochene Performance, um die Stimme in Aktion zu veranschaulichen. Danach wird das Publikum eingeladen, zu jammen und zu improvisieren und dabei den Anweisungen vor Ort zu folgen. Ziel dieser interaktiven Performance ist es, die eigene Stimme mit ihren vielfältigen Möglichkeiten und unterschiedlichen Stimmungen kennenzulernen einen Fluss im Ausdruck zu finden und gleichzeitig aktiv auf andere Stimmen und Körper im Raum zu hören. Keine Vorkenntnisse nötig.
Vida Vojić alias vida voyage ist eine Musik- und Performance- Künstlerin, »alchemistische Trommlerin« und Autorin aus Göteborg. Seit 2023 betreibt sie gemeinsam mit Hanna Magdalena Gödl das Café Witch und das Café Wolf in Graz.
Hanna Magdalena Gödl ist Multiinstrumentalistin, Sängerin, Autorin und internationale Projektmanagerin. Sie lebt in Wien und Göteborg.

Schaumbad – Freies Atelierhaus Graz is once again opening its doors to the unplanned: the second Graz Impro Fest awaits you. For seven days, the house and nature will be cleared for artists, collectives and the curious. Everyone is invited to join in, listen, drop by or simply be there. There are no boundaries, only perforations at the learned thresholds between performance and audience. And to ensure that the boundaries really do stay out of the way, diversity spreads – and not just in origami. Skating, making music and AI go together just as well as utopia and cooking. Because magic is created by doing and doing nothing together anyway. There is enough space for both loud and quiet participation. Speaking of which: nothing beats party participation. We also celebrate together, and in a really improvised way.

The Gathering is an improvisation space for music, dance and all other forms of artistic expression. Originating in London in the 1990s, founded by Maggie Nicols and the London Improvisers Collective, among others, it is intended to provide space for spontaneous improvisation. People interested in improvisation “gather” to express their creativity through communication, without any specific content.
Annette Giesriegl, who lives in Graz, is a vocalist who crosses borders. Trained in jazz singing, her work focuses on improvisation and the expansion of the vocal sound repertoire.

06:00 PM WORKSHOP: Martin Bous – „Resonance and Motion“
The workshop is an immersive experience that integrates voice and body movement. Participants explore and move dynamically, interacting with the microphones distributed around the room. This creates a constantly changing soundscape that encourages free expression and breaks down everyday inhibitions. The aim is to explore the versatility of the voice in combination with body movements and to encourage a deeper connection between the two.
Martin Peter Bous (*1995) is a vocalist and songwriter based in Vienna.

08:00 PM GATHERING: Café Witch – „Body and Voice“
A participatory performance about using your own voice to listen to, process and play with others. In this session, Vida and Hanna will first present a short choral and spoken performance to illustrate the voice in action. The audience will then be invited to jam and improvise, following on-the-spot instructions. The aim of this interactive performance is to get to know your own voice with its many possibilities and different moods, to find a flow of expression and at the same time to actively listen to other voices and bodies in the room. No previous knowledge necessary.
Vida Vojić aka vida voyage is a music and performance artist, “alchemical drummer” and author from Gothenburg. She has been running Café Witch and Café Wolf in Graz together with Hanna Magdalena Gödl since 2023.
Hanna Magdalena Gödl is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, author and international project manager. She lives in Vienna and Gothenburg.
