GIF – Grazer Impro Fest – Samstag 31.08.2024

Das Schaumbad – Freies Atelierhaus Graz öffnet erneut seine Tore für das Ungeplante: Das zweite Grazer Impro Fest erwartet euch. Sieben Tage lang wird Haus und Natur für Künstler:innen, Kollektive und Neugierige freigeräumt. Alle sind eingeladen, mitzuklingen, zuzuhören, vorbeizuschauen oder einfach dort zu sein. Es gibt keine Grenzen, höchstens Perforationen an den erlernten Schwellen zwischen Performance und Publikum.
Und damit die Grenzen auch wirklich fernbleiben, breitet sich das Vielfältige aus – nicht nur beim Origami. Skaten, Musizieren und KI passen genauso zusammen wie Utopie und Kochen. Denn die Magic entsteht sowieso im gemeinsamen Tun und Nichtstun. Es ist genug Platz für laute wie auch stille Teilhabe. Apropos: Nichts geht über Partyzipation. Auch gefeiert wird gemeinsam, und zwar richtig schön improvisiert.

Das Styrian Improvisers Orchestra – ein Highlight des Grazer Improfests – lädt heuer die legendäre Vokalistin und Tänzerin Maggie Nicols als Gastdirigentin ein. Die charismatische Künstlerin wird mit den 35 Musiker*innen der vorwiegend steirischen Improvisationsszene ein Konzertprogramm kreieren und mit eigenen Vokal- und Stepeinlagen – u. a. mit dem amerikanischen Bassisten Christopher Williams – aufwarten.
Maggie Nicols (UK) ist Improvisatorin, Vokalistin und Tänzerin.
Das STIO wurde 2012 von V:NM Graz gegründet und steht unter der Leitung von Annette Giesriegl, Seppo Gründlerund Josef Klammer.

20:30 PERFORMANCE: „Poli-klo-tische, Tanz with a little bit of Bullshit von Shahrzad Nazarpour“
Bei dieser interaktiven und intimen Performance wird sich das Publikum unabsichtlich, aber natürlich in einer Performance- Situation wiederfinden. Es handelt sich um eine poetische Diskussion zwischen der Performerin Shahrzad Nazarpour und einzelnen Anwesenden. Durch minimalen Tanz, Poesie, Text und Ironie entsteht eine dialogische Tanzdarbietung.
Shahrzad Nazarpour ist Performancekünstlerin aus dem Iran. Sie hat ihr Bachelor-Studium in Theater an der Universität in Teheran abgeschlossen und studiert derzeit Transmediale Kunst an der Universität für Angewandte Kunst in Wien.

21:00 AUDIO/VISUAL NOISE: „Dronišnica“ – Lan Štokelj Wu (mod. synth.), Simon Turnšek (mod. synth.), Oskar Kandare (vis.)
Dronišnica wurde im Jahr 2022 in Ljubljana gegründet und ist eine experimentelle audiovisuelle Band. Anfangs konzentrierte sich das Trio auf Improvisationen und Klangexperimente und entdeckte dabei das Potenzial, seine Rolle durch das Hinzufügen visueller Effekte zu erweitern. Die Sounds werden mit modularen Synthesizern und schweren Verstärkern erzeugt, die dichte Drones produzieren, die sich in reinen Lärm verwandeln. Sie spiegeln die chaotische Geräuschkulisse unserer Gesellschaft als Echo wider.

Schaumbad – Freies Atelierhaus Graz is once again opening its doors to the unplanned: the second Graz Impro Fest awaits you. For seven days, the house and nature will be cleared for artists, collectives and the curious. Everyone is invited to join in, listen, drop by or simply be there. There are no boundaries, only perforations at the learned thresholds between performance and audience. And to ensure that the boundaries really do stay out of the way, diversity spreads – and not just in origami. Skating, making music and AI go together just as well as utopia and cooking. Because magic is created by doing and doing nothing together anyway. There is enough space for both loud and quiet participation. Speaking of which: nothing beats party participation. We also celebrate together, and in a really improvised way.

07:00 PM CONCERT: STIO – Styrian Improvisers Orchestra feat. Maggie Nicols
This year, the Styrian Improvisers Orchestra – a highlight of the Graz Improfest – invites the legendary vocalist and dancer Maggie Nicols as guest conductor. The charismatic artist will create a concert program with the 35 musicians from the predominantly Styrian improvisation scene and perform her own vocal and step interludes – including with the American bassist Christopher Williams.
Maggie Nicols (UK) is an improviser, vocalist and dancer.
STIO was founded in 2012 by V:NM Graz and is directed by Annette Giesriegl, Seppo Gründler and Josef Klammer.

In this interactive and intimate performance, the audience will unwittingly but naturally find themselves in a performance situation. It is a poetic discussion between the performer Shahrzad Nazarpour and individual attendees. Through minimal dance, poetry, text and irony, a dialogical dance performance is created.
Shahrzad Nazarpour is a performance artist from Iran. She completed her bachelor’s degree in theater at the University of Tehran and is currently studying transmedia art at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.

Dronišnica was founded in Ljubljana in 2022 and is an experimental audiovisual band. Initially, the trio focused on improvisations and sound experiments, discovering the potential to expand their role by adding visual effects. The sounds are created with modular synthesizers and heavy amplifiers, producing dense drones that transform into pure noise. They reflect the chaotic soundscape of our society as an echo.
